Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Sunbury Heights Primary School.
It is my great privilege to welcome you to our vibrant, inclusive, and caring school community. At Sunbury Heights Primary School, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every child is known, valued, and supported to reach their full potential.
Our work is guided by Berry Street Trauma‑Informed Practice, ensuring that wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We understand that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. By embedding trauma‑informed approaches across our school, we create consistent, predictable, and respectful learning environments that allow all students to thrive.
We also place a strong emphasis on School‑Wide Positive Behaviours, promoting clear expectations, positive relationships, and a culture of kindness, respect, and responsibility. These shared practices support students to develop self‑regulation, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
A key strength of our school is our valued partnership with Community Hubs Australia, delivered through our beautiful Dulap Wilim Community Hub. The hub plays a vital role in strengthening connections between families, the school, and the wider community. Through Dulap Wilim, we support family engagement, access to services, and opportunities that enrich learning and wellbeing for our students and their families.
At Sunbury Heights Primary School, we are deeply committed to developing literate and numerate citizens who are confident, capable, and ready to actively contribute to their community. High‑quality teaching in literacy and numeracy is a core focus of our work, ensuring students build strong foundations, think critically, and apply their learning in meaningful and authentic ways.
We value strong partnerships with families and believe that learning is most powerful when schools and communities work together. Open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect underpin all that we do, and we warmly encourage parents and carers to be active participants in school life.
Our dedicated staff are passionate educators who maintain high expectations for all learners and are committed to continuous improvement. Together, we strive to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning in every child.
I invite you to explore our school, engage with our community, and share in the many achievements we are proud of. Whether you are a current family or considering joining Sunbury Heights Primary School, we look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child’s learning, wellbeing, and future success.
Warm regards,
Laban Toose
Principal
