Communication Overview 

The partnership between home and school play a vital role in the education of children at Sunbury Heights Primary School. We are committed to providing quality education in a safe, inclusive and caring learning environment. We value working together with parents and families as critical partners in student learning outcomes. 

Classroom teachers should always be the first person a parent/carer contacts regarding concerns and questions. If you are not satisfied with the response or action taken, this would then be followed up with contact with a member of the school’s Leadership Team. 

You should contact the school if: 

• you have concerns about your child’s academic or social progress. 

• medical issues arise or a diagnosis changes. 

• there are changes in family circumstances. 

• there are safety issues or changes in behaviour at home. 

• social issues arise that could impact the safety and wellbeing of your child or other children at the school. 

• you want to make or reschedule a meeting at the school. 

Our staff have families and personal lives too, and like all professionals, work at their best when they have quality work-life balance. 

We respectfully ask parents and carers not to expect : 

• school staff to return calls before/after work hours (8.30-3.30pm). 

• emails/Compass messages to be answered after hours, on weekends or during term breaks. (you should receive acknowledgement of your email/message within 2 work days). 

• access to teachers private phone numbers, emails etc. 

• staff to meet with parents/carers without prior notice/ appointment. 

• staff to continue a conversation that is aggressive, rude or disrespectful.
